Yes in the attic, or outside, the pre-amp would most likely overdrive your tuner. I based this information on the data i got from looking up Jenks on Antennaweb.org, that showed you being around 5 miles from the transmitters. Maybe if you were around 20 miles a pre-amp would be necessary.
