Both antennas should really only be used for UHF, they both claim some VHF mileage but are mainly for UHF. In my opinion the SS2000 is the better of the two. The amplifiers on the Lacrosse seems to go out more often than the Square Shooter, and when the amp goes out theres no way to replace it, its built into the unit. In fact a lot of people will buy the SS1000, which is not amplifed and add a pre-amp so if it does go out you can just replace the amp.
