You can't get local channels from 500 miles away, even if you subscribe to satellite TV. Most local channels on satellite systems are broadcast on "spot beams," meaning that they're only available to a small part of the country. National satellite broadcasts cover the entire country but the local ...

I know, you thought the days of the massive antenna were behind you. And I really hoped they were too. It's so much easy to put a small antenna on the roof than put a larger one up, especially the 11-foot-long monstrosity you see above you. Unfortunately, for some people, a big antenna could be part of the future.

The world of TV broadcasting will be changing in the next two years. The FCC will be turning off all TV broadcasting above channel 36 and reassigning channels in that upper range to lower channels. In some cases, that means reassigning them to the range between channels 2 and 6, which require a much larger antenna in order to work.

Not every city will be affected. Here's ...

    Good news, Hulu streamers!
Youíre about to a get 120 new TV shows and movies to stream next month.

Do you subscribe to Huluís streaming service? If so, youíll be treated to some exciting entertainment next month, according to an article by TVGuide.com. The streaming serviceís new August programming includes the season four premiere of the controversial Bachelor in Paradise. August also brings the series premiere of Marlon (NBC) and the first season Better Things (FX) to Hulu streaming. Fans of Huluís original series Difficult People get to enjoy the third season of this comedy for coastal elitists. (Stuart Sweet will likely rejoice in this news.)

TV series arenít the only thing Hulu users can stream this August. The streaming service will come on strong with a wide selection of movies, too. You can stream the first two Spider-Man films as well as the two Bill & Ted movies. If horror is your thing, Hulu acquired five of the eight Saw films. Fans of classic Western cinema can stream High Noon, the 1952 film that starred Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly. Augustís programming features a huge selection of movies from the past five decades.

    Now, ...

Game of Thrones Season 7. Even if you don't like this show or have never seen it, chance are you're at least marginally aware that the latest season is premiered last weekend on HBO.

Basically every cable and satellite provider in the United States is holding a free preview of all the HBO and Cinemax channels this weekend. They hope you'll get addicted to this and the other quality programming you'll find.

Personally my advice to you is to fill up your DVR with everything you could possibly want from these channels because that content won't disappear after the free preview is over. The preview starts today (Friday) and goes all weekend and that means with ten channels and 48 hours you could be looking at 3 weeks' worth of content even if you watched 24/7. Add on-demand content and that could be another week or two. That's a lot of value from a free preview.

And of course, if you'd like to pay for HBO, I'm sure your cable or satellite provider would appreciate that as well. If you're a DIRECTV or DISH customer, call us at Solid Signal at 877.312.4547 and we'll take care of everything!
