Default Running antenna cable through LNB5 dish

I hope someone knows the answer to this. I bought a db8 antenna from solid signal. I also upgraded my direct tv system last month to the lnb5 dish and
h20 high definition receiver. I put up my antenna last week and ran the cable into the back of my satellite dish and then diplexed the line behind my tv so that one line goes into the "satellite in" and the other to the "off air antenna in". A couple days ago someone told me that this will not work in a couple months once direct tv puts up there new satellites due to the satellites running b-band signals that will overlap the OTA signal. I have talked to another cable installer that says that it is not true. Does anyone know the answer to this for sure? I am hoping to find the answer to this within a few days because I am also in the process of finishing my basement and will be difficult to run cables once finished.

For the time being the diplexer will work, and in the future you should still be able to diplex on the lines that are going to standard receivers. When the KA-Lo signals are active they will either mix with the OTA signal or kill it. It does not sound likely that you will still be able to diplex on the lines going to the HD receivers, and the fact that the new multiswitches do not have OTA inputs may confirm this. It is always better to run a separate OTA signal anyway, Winegard has said that using two diplexers to combine and separate a signal reduces it by 60%.

Default Hr20-100b

Mike is there any plans for RCA to make more HR20-100B's (black) or could you get your hands on one. I have only seen them on E-BAY. My world changed 4/18/07 because Santa Barbara now gets all the locals.

Default The HR20 in Black

There definately are plans for DIRECTV to bring out more HR20's in black! We have put in our order for them many, many weeks ago. It is now a waiting game.

If you want to join my ever-enlarging waiting list send me your email address; I will notify you immediately. Click HERE to send me an email.
