Default CCTV CATV and OTA with the KA/KU Slim Line Dish

We get this question at least once a day, so I thought I would put this out here. The Zinwell Multiswitches's last two ports, referred to as the flex ports are only for satellites such as 95W and 72.5W. This switch does not accept Over the Air antenna, or Cable or Closed Circuit systems, like security cameras.

To my knowledge there is nothing that will merge the KAKU satellite signal with these other bands. CATV,CCTV and OTA usually run on the 5-1000 MHz, and all previous satellite systems ran on 1000-2150 MHz. The new KA/KU system occupies 250-2150, so you can see how diplexing would not be possible. I have talked to customers who have swore up and down that they diplexed the KA KU signal. You can do it to a non HD receiver, or any receiver not currently getting locals in HD.

Some people have told me they heard there is a device in the works to do this, which may be possible. If any one else has heard of any ways around this please post.

Default diplexing with the KaKu dish

Currantly DirecTV has the 99 and the 103 satellites sending high def locals. It may be true that some people have had sucess diplexing the high fequency signal, but they will not be able to diplex the low frequency signals.

As it is today the 103 satellite is broadcasting at 1650 to 2150 and the 99 which is the Mpeg 4 signal at 250 to 750. The problem is most people across the country do not know which satellite is actuaclly provideing the local channels. My advise is not to try it. When the new channels launch this fall they will all be Mpeg 4 and broadcasted in low frequency. Take the time and run an independent line for your antenna. It will save you time in the long run.
