I just picked up a unit on eBay. I have 2 weeks to check it out. Any advice on how to ensure the unit is good? Thanks Mike.

The first thing you should do is hold the On buton as it's powering up to freeze the Version Screen. Make sure you have a 2.5 or better, or else I would just send it back. A 2.1 would also be okay but depending on how much you payed for it.
The other thing you want to check out is the battery life, a good way to do this is to hook it up to a Dish 1000 or 1000.2 or another LNB that draws a lot of power. If it turns off right away then you can either send it back or buy a new battery supply. If hooked up to any other dish, it should have nearly 3 hours of battery life. -Mike

Thanks for the advice, Mike. It hasn't shown up nor have I heard from the seller (pawn shop) so maybe I was scammed. I hope not.

The firmware can be upgraded, but the hardware cannot, so that is why it is important to make sure to check the version you have. Hope it comes soon!
