    fcc spectrum

will all the stations rf channels have to be under 36
will that make the am21 be obsolete are it's to soon to tell

It's too soon to tell. Within the next 36 months, all TV broadcasting will move to the range of 2-36, with almost all being in the range of 7-36. When that happens, TVs that are hooked to antennas will need to rescan for channels. I'm sure you will see notices at the bottom of your favorite shows when that happens.

DIRECTV's AM21 relies on a database to know what channel is assigned to what frequency. The AM21 is no longer supported by DIRECTV, but they could still choose to update that database if they wanted to. No one has said one way or the other if that's going to happen. If no one updates the database, your AM21 will only work for channels that don't move.

DIRECTV's customer service reps lie all the time. If there were an official word on the subject I would have it.
