Default Accutrac22 PRO

Help me out with this thing. I purchased this unit from you guys a month or so ago. It seems to be a nice meter, however, I'm still having trouble aligning my Phase III triple LNB antenna.

I set the meter to the 22khz mode and hook up two leads from the antenna and start the process. I generally feel that I can find 101 and get real good signal. When I thought I had maximized the signal strength, I was still missing channels at the TV. To my surprise, to resolve the problem I had to raise the elevation almost 10 degrees over what was stated on the receiver setup and online satellite searches. What's the deal with this and is there a better way to do this because the way I'm doing it still forces me to get down off the roof and back up again?

Lastly, the battery life is very short. Are there any alternative power sources? Thanks

I know the alternate power source is your receiver set to appropriate channel with approriate polarization.
