I used the antenna selection feature on the web-site and it was suggested that I use a Channel Master 3016. I was planning on mounting the antenna in my attic and the dimensions of for the Channel Master 3016 may not work. I don't think I have enough room to set a 66"X84" antenna. Also this is a directional antenna; would I need a rotor to pick up for optimal signal on the different stations? I purchased a small directional antenna from radio shack and ran a "test" installation and I would get ghosting on one of the primary channels I was interested in by leaving the antenna in a fixed location. For this reason I was thinking I would need an omni-directional antenna like the Winegard MS-2000, AntennaCraft 5MS921 or Channel Master CM 3000. Would any of these three be recommended for an attic installation? Would amplification of the signal be needed? Or other equipment for running this to 3 TVs? Would I be "over buying" more antenna than i need?
I live in the Jenks, OK (just south of Tulsa) and from antennaweb.org I'm less than 20 miles from the channels of concern and they are all between 88° to 75° on the compass. Any suggestions from any one that has tried a similar application? |

An omnidirectional or multidirectional antenna actually increases ghosting. The remedy for ghosting is usually a highly directional antenna. A 3016 would definately work outside, but in the attic would be questionable. With an attic install you take about a 50% loss. To make up for that I would normally recommend a stronger antenna like the Winegard 7084P or the Channel Master 3679
With the limitiation of your attic space, you may want to try the 3016 outisde, or if you dont like the looks try the CM3010 Stealthtenna This would be better than a 3016 in the attic, and its relatively small. Even with three TVs a pre-amp would be too much, because you have station within 5 miles. -Mike |

thanks again for the help. i too used the antennaweb.org site and inputting my exact address I'm about 16-19 miles from the two transmitters that I'm interested in. I purchased the "package" deal on the channel master 3010 stealth antenna so I'll see if I need the pre-amp or not.
Thanks for providing useful tech support for an antenna newbie. I went into this adventure prepared to spend $$$ on this and feel like I'm going to have a quality system with minimal cost. We'll see what happens after install, but I'm confident that it should work out. |
